New Delhi: Ramsharan Nautiyal, father of popular Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal, has rejoined the Congress party, returning to the organisation after a gap of 12 years. His return comes just days after he reportedly left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Ramsharan formally joined the Congress at an event in New Delhi on Monday in the presence of senior party leaders, including AICC Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja, Uttarakhand Congress president Ganesh Godiyal and Leader of Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly Yashpal Arya.
From Congress to BJP and Back
Ramsharan Nautiyal began his political career in 2000 and remained associated with the Congress until 2014. During his time in the party, he served as the chairman of the Dehradun District Panchayat.
He later left the Congress and joined the BJP, where he remained active for around 12 years. In the 2022 Uttarakhand Assembly elections, he contested from the Chakrata constituency on a BJP ticket but lost the election.
His return to the Congress marks a significant development in his political journey in Uttarakhand.
Congress Welcomes His Return
Welcoming Ramsharan back into the party, Kumari Selja described him as a longstanding associate of the Congress and expressed confidence that his presence would further strengthen the organisation.
His re-entry comes as the Congress continues its political activities in Uttarakhand.
Jubin Nautiyal Yet to React
Meanwhile, singer Jubin Nautiyal has not publicly commented on his father’s return to the Congress.
Ramsharan and his wife, Neena Nautiyal, are associated with various business activities in Uttarakhand. Jubin developed an early interest in music, influenced in part by his father’s passion for the art, and has since established himself as a popular Bollywood playback singer.
Ramsharan Nautiyal’s political return is likely to draw attention given his connection to the well-known singer and his political background in Uttarakhand.
