New Delhi: Abhijit Deepak has said that Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das played key roles in decision-making within the CJP movement, describing the two as more than colleagues and calling them his brothers.

In a 16-minute video message released on the occasion of Dussehra and shared on X on Tuesday, Deepak said that Ranka and Das were instrumental in determining the movement's direction, while he followed their decisions.

According to Deepak, although he may appear to be the movement's leader to outsiders, Ranka and Das were responsible for making several important decisions.

CJP to Pause Protests Until Diwali

In the video, Deepak announced that CJP would not organise any protests until Diwali. He urged activists to use the break to spend time with their families.

He also said that the arrests of Ranka and Das had affected the movement, highlighting their importance to its organisation and leadership.

‘They Were Like Brothers’

Deepak described the two leaders as close companions and recalled their personal bond. He said they had a separate WhatsApp group where they shared memes and other content, adding that opening the group now reminded him of their absence.

His remarks offered a glimpse into the personal relationships among the movement's members, alongside their organisational responsibilities.

Deepak Reaffirms Commitment to Non-Violence

Addressing the issue of protests and the arrests of Ranka and Das, Deepak said the two had chosen a peaceful path despite the circumstances.

Drawing a comparison with Mahatma Gandhi's approach to peaceful resistance, he maintained that CJP had not abandoned the path of non-violence.

Deepak's video comes as the movement pauses its protest activities until Diwali, with its future course likely to depend on developments involving its leadership and ongoing campaign.
