Bhubaneswar (Odisha): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on Sunday, October 25, to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) greenfield data centre and training institute near Jatni in Khordha district. The administration and police have stepped up preparations to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the visit.
According to the tentative itinerary, the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport in the afternoon. He will then travel by helicopter to a helipad in Khordha before proceeding by road to the RBI facility at Info Valley-II in Jatni.
Modi is expected to spend around an hour at the venue before returning to Bhubaneswar and departing for New Delhi in the evening. The schedule remains subject to official confirmation.
Security Arrangements Intensified
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, officials have reviewed security arrangements, traffic management, convoy routes and other logistical preparations. Barricades are being installed along key stretches, while the routes connecting the helipad to the RBI facility are being prepared under heightened security.
Administrative and police teams are coordinating to manage the movement of the Prime Minister’s convoy and ensure the safety of the public. Preparations also include arrangements for emergency medical services and other essential facilities.
RBI Data Centre to Strengthen Digital Infrastructure
The RBI’s new data centre, located at Info Valley-II near Jatni, has been built at an estimated cost of ₹169 crore and covers approximately 18.55 acres. It is expected to strengthen the central bank’s data management, cybersecurity, disaster recovery and business continuity systems.
The facility will support critical banking operations, including currency management, payment and settlement systems, and regulatory functions. It is expected to serve as a secondary data centre to complement the RBI’s existing facility in Navi Mumbai.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by then RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das in March 2023.
The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to highlight the importance of digital infrastructure and cybersecurity in India’s financial system, while Odisha continues to prepare for the inauguration programme.
