Anantapur,Andhra Pradesh: A shocking incident has been reported from Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district, where a 21-year-old man allegedly attacked two Class 10 students with a power saw inside a government school.

The incident took place at around 10:30 am on Saturday at the Zilla Parishad High School in Raptadu village. According to preliminary information, the accused entered the classroom while lessons were underway and attacked the two girls. A teacher was reportedly present in the classroom at the time.

Both injured students were immediately rushed to the Government General Hospital in Anantapur for emergency treatment. One of the girls is stated to be in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. Arrangements are also being made to shift her to a hospital in Bengaluru by air ambulance.

Police have identified the accused as Hemanth, alias Dummu. He allegedly fled the school after the attack but was later arrested at Dharmavaram railway station.

Preliminary reports suggest that the accused is a resident of Nagalur village in Dharmavaram mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district and is a distant relative of one of the injured girls.

The incident triggered panic among students and school staff. Police have launched an investigation to establish the sequence of events and determine the motive behind the attack.

The condition of the injured students and further details of the investigation are being closely monitored.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu spoke over the phone with the injured Class 10 student in the presence of her mother. The Chief Minister encouraged her to remain brave and assured her that the accused would be apprehended and severely punished.

Chandrababu Naidu also assured the student that the government would stand firmly by her side and make every possible effort to ensure her safety and protection.

The Chief Minister spoke with local MLA Paritala Sunita to review the medical assistance being provided to the injured student. He also directed the concerned officials to ensure that the other injured girl receives the best possible medical treatment.
