New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended four Pakistani fishermen and seized a fishing boat in the sensitive Sir Creek area of Gujarat’s Kutch district, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, the fishermen were intercepted on Saturday evening while allegedly entering Indian waters without authorisation. The operation took place near the India-Pakistan maritime boundary, a sensitive border zone monitored closely by security forces.
BSF Maintains Vigil Along Border
The fishermen were apprehended during a BSF patrol in the Sir Creek region. The force continues to maintain a close watch over the area to prevent unauthorised crossings and other illegal activities.
Sir Creek is a narrow, marshy tidal channel along the Gujarat coast near Pakistan’s Sindh province. Its difficult terrain and tidal conditions make border surveillance particularly challenging.
Further Details Awaited
Officials have not initially released complete details about the operation. Further information regarding the circumstances of the interception and subsequent investigation is awaited.
Pakistani fishermen have occasionally been apprehended after crossing into Indian waters while fishing. Security forces continue to monitor the sensitive region to safeguard the maritime boundary.
