Washington: US President Donald Trump has reiterated his hardline stance against Iran, declaring that Tehran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Defending his administration’s aggressive approach, Trump said previous American presidents should have taken similar action much earlier and warned that Washington could intensify pressure on Iran.

Speaking about his policy towards Tehran, Trump said he was taking steps that earlier administrations had failed to take. He acknowledged that some people might disagree with his approach but insisted that many Americans strongly supported his actions.

“We can’t let Iran have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, adding that the United States had already carried out significant action against Iran and could go further if necessary.

Trump Accuses Iran of Trying to Drive Up Oil Prices

In a separate post on his Truth Social platform, Trump accused Iran of attempting to push up global crude oil prices ahead of the upcoming US midterm elections.

The US President alleged that Tehran was creating uncertainty surrounding maritime security in the Persian Gulf to influence oil markets. He also claimed that oil shipments through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz remained higher than before the conflict began.

Trump’s remarks come amid continuing concerns over regional security and the potential impact of tensions between Washington and Tehran on global energy supplies.

US President Accuses Tehran of Crackdown on Protesters

Trump also launched a sharp attack on Iran’s leadership, describing the government as an “evil regime” and accusing it of carrying out deadly crackdowns against protesters.

In his social media post, Trump claimed that 75,000 protesters had died in less than seven months. This figure remains a claim made by the US President and should be independently verified.

He criticised what he described as an inadequate response from political opponents and the international community, reiterating that Iran’s nuclear ambitions posed a serious concern for the United States.

Washington Signals Continued Pressure on Tehran

Trump’s latest comments underline his administration’s determination to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and maintain pressure on the Iranian leadership.

His warning that the United States could take further action raises questions about the next phase of Washington’s strategy and its potential implications for regional stability, oil prices and international security.

The situation remains closely watched as tensions involving Iran, the United States and the wider Middle East continue to influence global diplomatic and energy discussions.
